The unmistakable shape of the Citroen Traction’s body, its leather seats, and the characteristic noise of the four-cylinder engine make this collector’s car the emblem of “French chic” of the 50s and 60s. It was immortalized in many classic French films and was a favorite among the elites of the time.
These days, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel can immerse its guests in the city’s magic through the Hanoi vintage car tour experience — complete with the driver wearing a flat cap. You can choose from two half-day packages—Hanoi’s shopping tour or Hanoi’s discovery tour—or splash out for the tailored drive, which allows for a flexible duration and itinerary.

Combining Vietnamese hospitality with the European heritage of luxury lifestyle, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi exudes the charm of colonial Indochina
— From our review of Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi
The Hanoi vintage car tour, with refreshments on board, will take you along wide boulevards lined with tamarind trees, the city’s lakes, and elegant parks to the heart of the old town.
Rich in history, Hanoi boasts a myriad of architectural wonders, from the colonial-era buildings that line the boulevards to ancient temples that whisper tales of centuries gone by. And while it is almost impossible to experience all of Hanoi’s highlights in a short stay, you can at least see the “unmissable” sights.
Travel back in time
The Old Quarter is a must-visit area, famous for its labyrinthine streets filled with shops, street food vendors, and local artisans. Here, you can immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle as you sample delectable dishes like pho, a fragrant noodle soup, and banh mi, a flavorsome Vietnamese sandwich.
Among the highlights are the Temple of Literature (Hanoi’s first university built under Le Thanh Tong’s reign), the Russian-built marble Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the One-Pillar Pagoda, and the Tran Quoc Pagoda, which dates back to 1400 years. When shopping, visit the Hang Gai or Hang Dao streets, famous for their fine silk, and buy an ao dai—a traditional Vietnamese dress.
