“We fell in love with the sophisticated atmosphere of Alila Villas Uluwatu, its bold architecture and dramatic views from the vertiginous limestone cliff…” — From our review of Alila Villas Uluwatu
Minimalist and eco-conscious, Alila Villas Uluwatu redefines luxury with sustainable elegance. The cliffside villas feature private pools and open-plan living spaces that blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural environment. The resort is celebrated for its personalized service and curated cultural journeys. Our favorite culinary spot was CIRE, thanks to its modern cuisine with Asian touches. Wellness is at the heart of Alila Villas, featuring yoga, holistic spa therapies, and wellness retreats. This resort is a beautiful sanctuary for design lovers and seekers of serenity.

We wrote in our review that Amankila is a “haven of seclusion, and one of the most romantic hotels” in Bali; this is all true, but there is so much more. Amankila nourished our senses with sights, smells, and flavors, creating an unforgettable sense of serene luxury. And it’s beautiful. The resort’s elegant three-tiered pools, cascading toward views of the Lombok Strait, are picture-perfect. Thatched-roof suites, each with private terraces, blend effortlessly into the surrounding hills. We loved dining at the Terrace Restaurant, where the cuisine features traditional Balinese flavors with a contemporary twist. Amankila’s understated elegance makes it an ideal retreat for those seeking peace and cultural immersion.

“The beach experience starts with the inclined elevator ride that takes guests to the beach club. It’s one of the longest rides of its kind in the world” — From our review of the Bvlgari Resort Bali
Bvlgari Resort Bali is where Italian glamour meets Balinese artistry. The villas are masterpieces of design, featuring volcanic stone walls, infinity pools, and carefully-crafted details, rooted in local heritage. But it’s the Bvlgari Resort Bali’s striking setting that really stays in memory. Positioned atop a dramatic cliff, it offers stunning vistas from almost anywhere in the resort (including from most of its private villas). We loved gourmet dining at Il Ristorante and enjoyed a beachfront barbecue at La Spiaggia. The resort’s spa deserves a special shoutout, and again, its treatments are accompanied by breathtaking views.

Andaz Bali evolved from a collaboration between the Spin Design Studio from Tokyo and Tierra Design, a Bangkok-based firm, but its style is infused with a Balinese sense of place. The architecture has an intimate scale, and the interiors are designed using bamboo, stone, marble, and teakwood, paying homage to Balinese craftsmanship. Among the resort’s accommodation options are eighteen Garden Villas and four Beach Villas, interspersed by private courtyards (though most are rooms and suites). The two-bedroom Beach Villas are only steps from the waterfront, and they each feature an outdoor terrace, a spacious living room, and a pool. The hotel facilities include Shankha Spa, a fitness center, and three swimming pools, including an infinity beachfront pool.
