Entering from the driveway to the Ritz-Carlton Rabat hotel felt like stepping into an art installation. Picture a pathway leading through an olive grove planted in a shallow reflecting pool. The white stone, still water, and greenery combine to set the stage for a unique experience.
Beyond that, imagine a soaring lobby and manicured grounds that stretch for acres. And then picture the palm-lined walkways, the sculpted olive groves, the shimmering fountains… With every step, we felt like retreating deeper into a world of tranquil elegance.

The contrast between the sheer scale of the grounds and the feeling of privacy merits a separate mention. Courtyards, fountains, and palm-lined walkways create pockets of tranquility; everywhere we turned, there were perfect spots for long strolls or simply sitting still.
“In many ways, the resort’s design reflects Rabat itself. Morocco’s capital blends European, Arab, and African influences into a highly refined, cultured style.”
— From our review of Hotel Name
Once we stepped into the soaring lobby, the first impression was one of classic Moroccan grandeur, defined by high muqarnas ceilings and intricate zellij tilework, with numerous panther sculptures and framed pictures of Ottoman-era hunting scenes adding a touch of decadence.
The word “palace” isn’t just a metaphor here—but despite the lavish touches, the atmosphere never felt overdone. It was refined, curated, and inviting. Much like Rabat itself, the hotel seamlessly blends European, Arab, and African influences into a timeless design.
“The vastness of the grounds offered room to roam, breathe, and unwind—and our Deluxe Garden View room was perfectly tailored for us as a couple.”
— From our review of Hotel Name
We stayed in a Deluxe Garden View room, tucked among the greenery. It had everything we needed to both relax and spread out: a separate living area, a spacious bathroom with both tub and shower, and—our favorite—a small patch of private garden with a chaise longue beneath the olive trees. It struck the perfect balance of privacy and comfort.
“Blind Tiger, the bar we loved to linger in, offered cocktail craftsmanship worthy of Paris or New York”
— From our review of Hotel Name
The Brasserie Méditerranéenne quickly became our favorite destination for à la carte breakfasts (our favorites were Moroccan specialties—don’t miss the Amlou with yellow almonds—it’s addictive), or lunch, even though the resort has other tempting choices, like Palapa for poolside tacos and light bites. Dinner at Rihla was the most elegant experience of all, with creative pairings and standout service.
And then there was Blind Tiger—our go-to bar, where the indoor space felt sleek and moody, and the terrace outside was just right for lingering over cocktails.
“Treatment rooms are filled with soft scents and ambient music, and look out onto calm gardens.”
— From our review of Hotel Name
The spa was another highlight. It opens onto gardens and carries a sense of calm from the moment you step in: rosewater steam rooms, hammam rituals, and daylight-filled treatment rooms. An indoor pool and a fully equipped gym are part of the setup, but what stayed with us was the approach to wellness that felt immersive, not just cosmetic.
The entrance itself is unforgettable. A pathway leads you past a shallow reflective pond filled with olive trees, then onward into the grand lobby. Even without a treatment, just that approach puts you in the right state of mind.
“Golfers can book tee times directly with Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, but the hotel concierge would be happy to assist.”
— From our review of Hotel Name
The hotel is located outside Rabat’s busy center, which suited us—after exploring the Kasbah of the Udayas and the ruins at Chellah, it felt perfect to retreat here for downtime. A quick tip: taxis sometimes struggle with directions, so keep the exact address handy.
For golfers, the property borders Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, whose fairways looked immaculate. For us, though, the gardens and pools were enough.
Where to stay in Marrakech
Our stay at the Ritz-Carlton Rabat was exactly what we hoped it would be: private yet grand, rooted in Moroccan tradition but contemporary in comfort. It was the perfect counterbalance to days of sightseeing, and we left with the feeling that this is the swankiest, most serene side of Morocco’s capital.
