During our last trip to the island, we stayed at Katikies Santorini, Grace Hotel, Cavo Tagoo Santorini, and Vora Villas. All of these hotels reflect different sides of the Santorini experience and the rising standards of the top luxury hotels. They all have shaped the stylistic trends on the island, but perhaps none of them could match the amount of space the Santo Pure Oia Suites & Villas offers.

As we arrived at the hotel, the first impressions were that of stepping into a self-contained, maze-like village, with clusters of white-bleached houses. This layout—and the simple, sturdy architecture of the suites and villas—bring to mind the cave-dwelling style of the nearby Oia.
The hotel grounds are expansive, with facilities to match. There is a fully-fledged gym on-site and a spa with a good-sized heated indoor poo, and no fewer than four other outdoor swimming pools.

The whitewashed concrete and pale stone contrasting with black walls is an attractive combination, resulting in a dramatic look, truly worthy of the striking beauty of Santorini.
We checked in to one of the very spacious Exclusive Sunset Suites. It was fantastic, in terms of privacy and the expansive views, especially at sunset. The suite had a large sea-facing terrace, with a heated jacuzzi and a romantic swing. The architecture and design perfectly reflect the laid-back, peaceful atmosphere of Santo Pure Oia.
Santorini’s prettiest town is very close by though, and we’d often go there for a walk early morning—before the cruise ship crowds arrive—and with the sun still young in the sky. For us, Oia was the prettiest with its pathways deserted and fresh from the morning mist.
Santorini has much more to offer than Oia, of course. Our favorite activity was exploring the pathways of all the cliff-top towns and sampling food at their restaurants (the local Vinsanto wine is always worth trying too). Sailing around the island is fantastic too, as is checking out Santorini’s various museums and archeological sites. The concierge at the Santo Pure Oia Suites & Villas will gladly advise on or organize everything you may wish for.
Where to stay in Santorini
We would come back to Santo Pure Oia for breakfast, which is a wholesome affair. Served on a terrace next to the main pool, with the backdrop of sea views, it was a great buffet selection, with various cold cuts, salads, pastries, and even champagne.
Then, there was the quality time by the pool, the spa treatments, and plenty of time just chilling on our terrace, admiring the sea views.
