Balinese treatment

Set among the paddy fields and hills of the Bali’s Ubud area, surrounded by gardens full of basil and chilli plants and banana and bamboo trees, the hotel’s 46 rooms and suites’ understated design takes cues from the lush surroundings.

The rooms come with terraces or courtyards, and the top suites have private infinity pools—as well as fantastic views of the valley.

The best views are from the infinity pools of the three Uma Pool Suites. The vast panoramas span the valley right down to the Oos river meandering along the bottom.

COMO Shambhala Spa

From among all rooms, the Shambhala suite enjoys the vistas but most of all it has the resort’s finest pool—and private spa treatment room. The indulgent spa treatments are at the core of the Uma experience.

At the Shambhala Spa, traditional Asian healing and rejuvenating sessions are enhanced by the steam room and 25-meter pool, as well as complimentary yoga classes.

Gourmet

Guests wandering down a few inconspicuous steps past a waterfall-fed fishpond will discover the open pavilion of Kemiri, the resort’s main restaurant.

Here the expertly prepared food is served under the alang-alang thatched ceiling, never far from the lush vegetation of the gardens. Nature is always at the heart of Uma Ubud.

Inventive fresh food is also on the menu in the eye-catching bar, back by the main pool. Or just settle for a glass of one of the fab cocktails!

COMO Uma Ubud is delightfully low-key, its design in harmony with nature. Tastefully decorated interiors enchant with contemporary style and beautiful surroundings.

What we love

• Balinese design of clean lines and simple, uncluttered spaces;
• Light and comfortable rooms provided with the latest geeky gadgets;
• The hotel enjoys a great location. It is very tranquil, even though it’s located near the busy road—and the center of Ubud is just a few minutes drive away;
• The convenient location means easy availability of many cultural activities and excursions;
• Sleek infinity pool and striking, sensuous bar design.

What you should know

• Not all rooms have valley view, e.g. Garden Rooms (though they do enjoy great bathrooms with free-standing tubs);
• The hotel provides an hourly free shuttle service to Ubud—but it’s close enough to walk (it takes just 20 minutes);
• We recommend exploring beyond the hotel to change the menu: try Naughty Nuri opposite the hotel for casual drinks—and nearby Mozaic is one of Ubud's top restaurants.
