Resembling private homes more than a hotel, Uma’s affordable luxury formula translates into the immersive COMO Shambhala spa experience and zen-like open spaces & cream-white furnishings that form the hotel’s organic design.
Uma Ubud is a member of the COMO Group—thus a sister property to the COMO Shambhala Estate in Ubud. It is equally beautiful too, though this beauty takes on a slightly less decadent take.
Set among the paddy fields and hills of the Bali’s Ubud area, surrounded by gardens full of basil and chilli plants and banana and bamboo trees, the hotel’s 46 rooms and suites’ understated design takes cues from the lush surroundings.
The rooms come with terraces or courtyards, and the top suites have private infinity pools—as well as fantastic views of the valley.
The best views are from the infinity pools of the three Uma Pool Suites. The vast panoramas span the valley right down to the Oos river meandering along the bottom.
COMO Shambhala Spa
From among all rooms, the Shambhala suite enjoys the vistas but most of all it has the resort’s finest pool—and private spa treatment room. The indulgent spa treatments are at the core of the Uma experience.
At the Shambhala Spa, traditional Asian healing and rejuvenating sessions are enhanced by the steam room and 25 metre pool, as well as complimentary yoga classes.
Guests wandering down few inconspicuous steps past a waterfall-fed fishpond will discover the open pavillion of Kemiri, the resort’s main restaurant.
Here the expertly prepared food is served under the alang-alang thatched ceiling, never far from the lush vegetation of the gardens. The nature is always at the heart of Uma Ubud.
Inventive fresh food is also on menu in the eye-catching bar, back by the main pool. Or just settle for a glass of one of the fab cocktails!
