Even the cuisine at COMO is merely a complement to biological spa treatments. Based on organic, mostly local products, the food is healthy and tasty.

The Residences

The suites and rooms are grouped in five Residences, built around a large swimming pool, but the architect also conceived a few detached villas with private swimming pools. They ensure enhanced privacy.

Scattered among the jungle clearings, the Residences are architecturally distinctive, however, all share the same harmony with the lush jungle. At COMO Shambhala Estate everything is perfectly synchronized with the rich, tropical greenery.

The interiors are well furnished with old European wood furniture and Asian antiques. Colonial-style beds and polished teak floors complement Indonesian artifacts, carved products from Burma and Mongolian rugs. Each bathroom is stunning, with a vast stone tub and an outdoor shower—one even has its own waterfall.

Set on hectares of stunning tropical grounds and surrounded by riverside forests and plunging hill terraces, COMO Shambhala Estate is one of the most magical hotels in Bali.

• The nature of the self-contained Residences means that the resort never seems crowded, even at full occupancy

What you should know

• Guests who check in to one of the villas in the Residence must share the pool with four other villas
• The stone steps leading to the river are steep and not suitable for the less agile
• The hotel is fairly remote. It takes a half-hour to drive here from Ubud, there is also nothing to do in the immediate vicinity of the hotel
