Nobis Hotel Stockholm

Sweden is a land of beautiful people and the Nobis Hotel Stockholm more than measures up. Home to one of the hottest bars in town, just off the main lobby, as well as a laid-back coffee bar, the Nobis draws the hip crowds in the heart of the city.

Stockholm is an underrated city. With awe-inspiring natural topography (it’s actually made up of 14 islands), a genuine cultural edge and some of the friendliest people you’ll meet anywhere, it offers a perfectly-packaged city break. Until relatively recently the city lacked a good design-focused hotel, but the arrival of the Nobis, smack in the heart of the city, changed all that.

Contemporary Luxury

On one side of a typical Scandinavian square, the property comprises two stately buildings, masterfully updated by a team of architects who found the balance between old and new: The restored original features are at home in the sleek, modernized space.

The grand staircase is a work of art in itself, and the rooms contain the type of gorgeous furniture as if straight from the pages of a swank interiors magazine. The aesthetics are unfailingly modern—a touch cold for some people’s taste, but no one could fault the oversize rooms and cathedral-like walk-in showers.

In the heart of Stockholm

The Gold Bar, like the city itself, provides a warm welcome on even the coldest Scandinavian evening, but it is the most lively during the weekends when model-types saunter across the lobby and into the bar. The hotel is well placed for exploring the city’s cultural highlights, like the brand-new Fotografiska (Photography Museum), or experiencing Sweden’s fika culture. Nothing is more than a 10-minute stroll away in this compact capital. This design-focused property is a perfect base for exploring the enchanting Scandinavian city.

What you should know

• The hot-spot bar gets busy and loud on weekends — so request a room on a high floor or facing the square for peace and quiet
• No spa, but the hotel can organize treatments at nearby spas
• Stockholm is expensive. Skip the cab from the airport and opt for the train – it’s faster and drops you a 10-minute walk from the hotel
