Six Senses Con Dao

The Six Senses group tends to build its resorts in isolated locations, surrounded by stunning nature. Six Senses Con Dao, surrounded by green hills and located in the national park, follows suit.

Like in other Six Senses resorts, the design alludes to local aesthetics, and the architecture is set in harmony with the environment. Aficionados of the Six Senses will also recognize their favorite brand in the contemporary ambiance and the rustic design of villas.

The villas are comfortable and modern. Their interiors are bright and airy, with white floors and huge baths. The walls, ceilings, and beds are made of clear, raw wood, and cabinets with doors with bamboo braid have handles made of thick rope.

The floor-to-ceiling glass opens onto the private swimming pool and to the sea, enhancing the sense of space.

Vietnamese town

The hotel resembles a traditional fishing village with streets full of small shops. This theme is enhanced by the distinct design of walls and facades, made of old doors and recycled vintage teak paneling.

The sense of connection with the local tradition is also carried in the “street food” themed stall, operated by local women, serving fried delicacies. Inspired by the ubiquitous stalls in Vietnamese cities, it is the most charming dining option, next to the Six Senses Con Dao restaurants or in-villa dining.

As per many other Six Senses resorts, the Con Dao property offers an open-air cinema and the renowned Six Senses Spa, said to be one of the best in Vietnam.

Con Dao Island

The spectacular landscape of The Con Dao consists of rocky hills covered by dense forest, cliffs, and sandy beaches—but the beauty of the island contrasts with its tragic history.

Political prisoners were sent here from the mainland, forced into hard labor, and subjected to cruel punishment. Today, abandoned buildings are a silent testament to mankind’s dark side.

While the Six Senses Con Dao follows the formula of its parent brand, a blend of rustic minimalism with lovely traditional themes give the Con Dao resort unique personality.

What we love

• The spacious open-plan villas, each with a private pool (with eco-friendly saltwater)
• The hotel's mile-long, crescent-shaped beach is vast and deserted

What you should know

• The staff is employed locally and though all employees are, without exception, polite and helpful, some problems with communication in English do happen
• Other than the open-air cinema, the nightlife is limited to looking at the stars with a bottle of wine. There is also not much to see in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, though the concierge can arrange excursions
• Con Dao is far from populated centers, but the island is not hard to get to. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City are scheduled every day
