Six Senses Samui

The characteristically rustic and luxurious Samui hotel is a realization of principles and aesthetics behind the Six Senses vision of “barefoot luxury” beach escape.

Founded by the renowned hotelier couple Sonu and Eva Shivdasani, the Six Senses hotel brand is cut for eco-conscious travelers seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The chain’s Samui property follows the brief.

Built on a hilly eight hectares, Six Senses Samui comprises of sixty-six thatched villas, surrounded by lush greenery. The interiors are made in raw teak, bamboo, and other natural materials—even with pieces of driftwood.

Glass walls, sliding doors separating the bedroom and a large bathroom, outdoor shower and generally spacious villa plan create a feeling of openness and closeness to nature.

Beyond the villas

Most of the guests rarely leave the villas, preferring room service and chilling out in the privacy of their own pools and wooden decks—whilst enjoying Southern Thailand‘s seascape. But the hotel prepared plenty of public spaces for relaxing too.

There is the infinity pool with beautiful views, a restaurant, lounge with plush couches suspended from the ceiling. And the viewing platform is perfect for witnessing the sunset spectacle, whilst sipping Mohito.

Dining on the Rocks

Meals, whether ordered to the villa or served to the restaurant tables—are always excellent. The menu combines innovative western dishes and traditional Thai cuisine.

Exquisite Asian and Mediterranean dishes are served in the hotel’s special dining venue—the famous Dining on the Rocks, built on a wooden board appearing to float above the ocean.

Typically for one of the Six Senses resorts, the spa is also excellent, with seven rooms for massage indoor and five outdoor.

Six Senses Samui is perfect for eco-minded honeymooners and couples valuing the privacy of their luxury villa retreat.

What you should know

• Villas 35, 36, 38, 39, 40, 42 and 43 have the best view of the sea and the rising sun
• We advise booking the table in Dining on the Rocks in advance, as the restaurant is very popular among tourists from other hotels on the island
• The hotel is not for travelers who like the "traditional" hotel room elegance—but for those are happy to trade over some comforts for living in harmony with nature
• Flying aircraft noise can sometimes interrupt the peace, especially right after one of those fantastic spa treatments
